SLYI TRAINEES ON CULLINARY SERVICES @ SPEEDMEALS CULLINARY SCHOOL, LAGOS (SOUTH-WEST REGION)

SLYI is a project intended by the NCWR sponsored by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, USA committed to alleviating poverty and improving lives in the fragile economy of Nigeria where the order of the day is steep and deepening poverty level. On the other hand, the lack of entrepreneurial skills and social enterprise tools to support young people; skills miss-match between the various educational institutions, trade centres and the labour markets in both private and government sectors heightens the gap. Hence, we extend hand of collaboration to assist us achieve these intents which will in the long-run  upscale their socio-economic status to family breadwinners

As a result of the above, the SLYI intervention program was birthed to increase access to quality economic empowerment opportunities for youths between the ages of 17/18 – 30 years (boys and girls) through: vocational skills training, scholarship & business start-up support, in the target states in the six geo-political zones/regions across Nigeria within two years. The Vocational training skills comprises of catering/culinary services, fashion designing, welding & fabrication, Automobile engineering, Electrical engineering, Wood-work, Tiling & terrazo flooring, ICT, Hair-dressing, phone repairs, and Educational Scholarships for indigent beneficiaries. After the training period, an internship commence to deepen mastery of practical skill
