Our Apostolate

Our Fr. Founder:
Blessed Francisco Palau Y Quer, OCD (1811 – 1872), through a unique experience saw the Church as infinitely beautiful and lovable, and he lived his Carmelite vocation in serving her and wished that others do the same. From this experience, the idea of the style of life for the new religious family was born.

As a Congregation, our life of communion with and in the Church is expressed in three ways, namely prayer life, fraternity in the community, and mission in the local Church where we are situated.

Special Contribution in the Church:
Today in the society the adverse effect of corruption can be felt strongly. This being the case, the Congregation through her presence, prayer and mission contributes to knowledge, moral upbringing and patriotism.

Through education (nursery/primary and computer training), ignorance which is the root of many problems in our country is slowly being eradicated. In our school, some poor children are given scholarship as way of answering the call of the Church to opt for the poor and uphold their dignity. The youth are being given intellectual and moral training. We engage in collaborative ministry in the parish through health care.

Through pastoral work and catechesis, the consciences of the young who are the future of the country are being formed. The known way of teaching catechesis (rote learning) is gradually being replaced with explanatory and practical learning experiences.

Our presence as spiritual directresses to different pious societies in the Church helps in spiritual formation of the members. And the CMS who share in our spirituality and apostolate help to spread the good news through their behaviour, they also help to reach out to the needs of the poor in their neigbourhood.

These missions offer hope to the Nigerian Church and society as they add to the spread of the good news, growth and continuity of religious life in Nigeria.
