NCWR 2018 National Day celebration
The National Day Celebration of Nigeria Conference of Women Religious was held on June 14 to 17, 2018 at Catholic Social Centre, Kaduna. Sr. Mary Agatha Osarenkhoe, EHJ the National President and Sr. Jacinta Nwaohiri, OP the Provincial Councillor of Kaduna Ecclesiastical Province were present for the celebrations. The opening Mass took place at St. Mary's Catholic Church and was presided over by Most Rev. Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, the Archbishop of Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna.
Concelebrating with him were some priests of the Archdiocese. In his homily he expressed satisfaction over the visit (Solidarity Visit) of the Women Religious to Kaduna at such a moment of Crisis. He thanked the Sisters for their courage, faith and visit of hope. There was opening ceremony with welcome addresses from NCWR National President, Provincial Councillor, NPCC Vice Chairperson, Provincial President, Laity Council Chairman, CWO president, Christian Mothers President, CYON president among others.
There was a paper presentation by Rev. Fr. Jude Ossai, OSA on the theme MARY MODEL OF CONSECRATED PERSONS: PROPHETIC WITNESSING IN THE NIGERIAN SOCIETY. The group went for site seeing at the Chancery office of the archdiocese and AREWA house respectively. At Arewa house we toured round the museum where 14 books were formally presented to the president of the Conference.
The books are presently in the Library of the Conference at the Secretariat. We also visited the Residence of Sir Amadu Bello which is besides the museum. Some of the activities for the celebration were; match past, presentation of drama, dance and jokes from different provinces.
The house also had interactive sessions for clarification of issues about the Conference. About 250 Sisters from across the Area Conferences in Nigeria and Congregations were in attendance. The Archdiocese generally gave us a warm welcome and support throughout the celebration.
